Bengaluru, April 22, 2025: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Monday that his government will initiate action against those who allegedly asked students of a certain community to remove their ‘Janivara’ (Holy thread) during the CET exam held recently.

Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar said on Monday that the Congress government is against interference in the religious practices of students.

“Getting Janivara removed is wrong. Some may wear Lingadaras, others may wear Ududara. It’s a question of their belief and customs that should not be interfered with. Our government will not allow such things,” Shivakumar said.

Shivakumar explained that such stringent rules are only in the police service.

“Except that, students should not be asked to remove these things in schools and colleges.”
