Washington, Mar 18, 2022: US President Joe Biden made a major faux pas during an address at the White House on March 15. He was speaking at an event on Equal Pay Day to celebrate Women’s history month when he referred to Kamala Harris as the ‘first lady’ by mistake.
What Joe Biden wanted to convey was that Doug Emhoff, US Vice President Kamala Harris’s husband had contracted Covid-19. However, he just ended up saying, “There’s been a little change in the arrangement of who is on the stage because of the first lady’s husband contracting Covid-19.”

Someone quickly corrected him and pointed out that his statement would mean he was the one who had tested positive for Covid-19. “That’s right,” he said, while the entire room burst into laughter.
“She’s fine. Second lady the first gentleman, how about that?” Joe Biden said with a smile.
Second gentleman Doug Emhoff tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday, according to a statement from the vice president’s office. "Earlier today, the Second Gentleman tested positive for Covid-19," said Sabrina Singh, deputy press secretary for Vice President Kamala Harris. "Out of an abundance of caution, the Vice President will not participate in tonight’s event. The Vice President tested negative for Covid-19 today and will continue to test,” the statement read.
