Vijaypura, June 12, 2023: As many as nine villagers were injured after bulls attacked them during the annual Kakhandaki Kari bull festival in Babaleshwar village of Vijaypura district in Karnataka. According to the police, two people were critically injured in the incident that took place on June 10.
According to sources, the festival takes place every year, where the villagers tend to instigate the bulls by tying them with a rope. This year, they featured a group of eight bulls with each bull rider, said the police.
The police further said that a few bulls lost control and ran over the spectators, causing injuries.
According to the police, the villagers didn’t take permission from the administration to carry out the event. However, no case has been registered regarding the same.
The Kakhandiki Kari bull festival is renowned in North Karnataka, attracting people from Bagalkote, Belagavi, Hubballi, Kalburgi, and even Maharashtra, who come to witness this celebrated annual event.
