Hassan, October 18, 2024: An audio clip, said to be that of Arsikere MLA K M Shivalingegowda, saying that crores of rupees were distributed across Hassan district during the Lok Sabha election, is viral on social media platforms.

"Money should be distributed as directed by the CM and DCM. Congress candidate Shreyas Patel will give Rs 5 crore. Former MLC Gopalaswamy will give Rs 1 crore and I will give Rs 1 crore. In all, Rs 7 crore should be distributed," it is heard in the purported audio clip. DH could not independently ascertain the veracity of the audio.

He is heard saying: "Rs 500 should be paid for each vote. Money should be distributed to around 68 per cent to 70 per cent people. You will know who will vote for us and pay such people. The opposition parties will secure around 30% votes. There is no need to pay the people who vote for them. Both CM and DCM have taken a decision in this regard".

There is a discussion on pen drive cases and obscene videos. "Such issues should be utilised well. H D Kumaraswamy himself has not come for campaign after the video leak. Should H D Deve Gowda campaign at this age? Is there no one else? BJP leaders are not working", he is heard saying.

Shivalingegowda is heard expressing dissatisfaction over the political situation in Belur, and criticising Belur MLA Suresh and Shivaram - another leader - for inadequate campaigning. He is heard alleging that rowdy elements have raised their heads after Shivaram’s arrival in Belur.
