Bengaluru, April 01, 2021: Days after the family of the woman, involved in the Karnataka CD scandal case, claimed that she was under pressure, her father wrote to the Karnataka High Court.
In a writ petition, the father of the woman requested the court not to consider his daughter’s statement that was recorded before the magistrate on Tuesday.
The woman’s father claimed that when his daughter appeared before a magistrate to record her statement, a lawyer -- the general secretary of Karnataka Congress legal cell -- was also present.
The lawyer of the woman, however, said, “Once a lawyer wears the black coat, it doesn’t matter which party he is from. I called him as a friend. It doesn’t matter to me which party anyone is from. I am fighting for a cause here and have fought against all political parties earlier.”
In his petition to the court, the woman’s father said his daughter was under a lot of pressure. He appealed to the court to keep her in isolation either with the family or with the court so that she can record her statement without any pressure.
Over 20 days of being untraceable, the woman in the Karnataka CD row had appeared before a magistrate on Tuesday (March 30). She had recorded her statement under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
The woman had on March 26 filed a police complaint against the former minister through her advocate. She stated that she feared for her safety. The complaint was registered at Cubbon Park police station in Bengaluru.
