Karnataka Governor, Ministers condole death of Dr Acharya

VS AcharyaBangalore, Feb 14, 2012: Karnataka Governor H R Bhardwaj, Union Minister M Veerappa Moily, former Prime Minister H D Devegowda, Vishveshathirta Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt and BJP General Secretary H N Ananta Kumar were among the leaders who condoled the death of Minister for Higher Education Dr V S Acharya who died at a private hospital here today.

The Governor, who is camping at New Delhi, in a condolence message issued here, said, ’’I learn with great shock the news of sudden passing away of Dr Acharya. I know him as a learned and visionary leader. The State has lost an able leader with his death.’’


Union Minister for Corporate Affairs M Veerappa Moily, expressing his shock over sudden demise of Dr Acharya, said, ’’I have lost a great friend and a well wisher. I was just sharing a platform yesterday at Mangalore in Karnataka Exporters Meet. I never imagined that death will come so suddenly and snatch him away from us.’’
 
Mr Devegowda, in his condolence message, said the state and country had lost an honest leader. Dr Acharya had been known for his simplicity and dedication to his work. His death was a great loss, he said.

Pejawar Swamiji in his condolence message said Dr Acharya was a person who was taking lead role in social activities. He was the first person as President of Udupi Municipality to ban lifting of night soil.

Former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, expressing his profound grief over Dr Acharya’s death, said his death had pained him a lot. ’’He was not only very close friend of mine but a well wisher too,’’ he said.

BJP State President K S Eshwarappa said by his death the state had lost an able leader. Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah, in his condolence message, said Dr Acharya was a model politician and his death has pained me very much.
