Karnataka minister holds video conference with Kerala health minister

Bengaluru, May 11, 2020: Karnataka Medical Education Minister K Sudhakar holds video conference with Kerala health minister KK Shailaja on Monday to understand how to how they were able to contain the Covid-19 pandemic effectively.

During the ine hour interaction on Monday, the two discussed on steps adopted for Tracing, Testing and Treatment of the disease, the outcome, and the measures to be taken to address the challenges following the ease of lockdown.

The two ministers agreed to have regular dialogue to exchange information on disease control and quality treatment for patients.

Explaining the steps taken for better management of Covid-19, Shailaja said that soon after students returned from Wuhan, Kerala took proper precautions to prevent the spread of the virus.

She said that Kerala is equipped with health facilities at the taluk-level and it thus it became easier to quarantine the infected and treat them at various levels. This has reduced the mortality rate in our state, she added.

Both the ministers stressed on the need for cooperation of states in following better treatment practices.

Various issues like the method of quarantine, testing and treatment of patients with respiratory ailments, cooperation of private medical colleges in fighting the virus, treatment of pregnant women, quarantine of international passengers and other issues were also discussed during the video conference.
