Kashmir: Al Badr chief Ganie Khwaja killed in encounter in Sopore

Kashmir, Mar 09, 2021:      The security forces have gunned down Al Badr chief Ganie Khwaja in an encounter in Tujjar village of Sopore in Jammu and Kashmir.

 

The security forces have gunned down terror outfit Al Badr’s chief Ganie Khwaja in an encounter in Tujjar village of Sopore in Jammu and Kashmir. Informing the media about the encounter, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar termed the encounter a ’big success.

Sources said that security forces had received a tip-off that some militants were hiding in Tujjar village. Acting on the tip-off, a joint team of local police, CRPF and army started a search operation in the village.

The search operation turned into an encounter after militants opened fire on the security forces, who retaliated.

As per the tip-off, two-three militants were suspected to be hiding in the village, sources said.

Soon after the encounter started, the police gunned down a militant who had now been identified as Al Badr chief Ganie Khwaja.
