Kerala issues new Covid testing, quarantine rules for international travellers

Thiruvanantapuram, Feb 05, 2022: Kerala on Saturday issued a fresh set of Covid-19 guidelines for international travellers arriving in India. The travellers will have to undergo symptom surveillance.

As per the new rules, if the passenger is found to be symptomatic, she/he will undertake an RT-PCR test and further action is advised as per results.

Also, home quarantine has been advised for international travellers and they must continue to self monitor their health for seven days. If symptoms develop, they shall undergo testing, the order stated.

Additionally, passengers have been asked to avoid congregations and gatherings.They will have to take a rapid antigen test on the eighth day of the arrival.

On Friday, Kerala reported 38,684 new cases of Covid-19 taking the total case count up to 62,11,116, the state health department said.

There are currently 3,66,120 active Covid-19 cases in Kerala. As many as 28 deaths were reported, taking the death toll to 57,296.
