Kin of Delhi air hostess who killed self release photos to prove domestic assault

Delhi, Jul 24, 2018 : The family of Anissia Batra, the 39-year-old Delhi-based air hostess who killed herself on July 13, has released photos to back the claim that she was regularly assaulted by her husband, Mayank Singhvi.

 

The family has released two photos that show bruised limbs - one shows a forearm with red marks, while the other picture shows a limb with black injury marks.

Anissia Batra killed herself by jumping off the terrace of her New Delhi home on July 13. According to the police, Anissia had a fight with her husband of two years, Mayank Singhvi, before she killed herself.

Her family has alleged that her husband used to regularly assault her. Anissia’s mother, in her statement to the police, claimed that her daughter was beaten by Mayank on the second day of the couple’s honeymoon in 2016.

Anissia’s father even wrote to the police (a few days before her daughter’s death) that if anything were to happen to the air hostess, Mayank and his family would be responsible.

Mayank has been arrested by the Delhi Police, which is investigating Anissia’s death and is currently under custody. The police have also questioned Anissia’s in-laws who currently enjoy interim protection from arrest until a courts hears their anticipatory bail plea.
