Long drive, failed ticket booking: How Sahil dumped Nikki’s body and stood on wedding stage

New Delhi, Feb 16, 2023: Amid back-to-back revelations in the Najafgarh murder case, it has come to fore that the accused, Sahil Gehlot, and victim Nikki Yadav went to Delhi’s Kashmiri Gate area to book tickets to Himachal Pradesh.

 

22-year-old Nikki Yadav was allegedly killed by her 24-year-old live-in partner, Sahil Gehlot, who stuffed her body inside a refrigerator at his dhaba (eatery) in southwest Delhi and went off to marry another woman the same day.

The heinous crime came to light on February 14 and the accused has been sent to five-day police custody for further interrogation. Sahil committed the crime on the intervening night of February 9 and 10.

According to sources, Sahil Gehlot went to his Uttam Nagar residence on the night of February 9, where he used to live with his live-in partner Nikki. Instead of taking his Nexon car, he drove his brother’s car, which had a Goa registration number.

The couple had already planned a trip to Goa, but Sahil did not have the ticket. Both Sahil and Nikki then left for Nizzamuddin Railway Station from Uttam Nagar to arrange the ticket. However, they could not manage to get another ticket.

The couple then ditched the Goa plan and decided to go to Himachal Pradesh by bus. The duo then reach Kashmiri Gate to book tickets to Himachal. However, Sahil then got a call from his home and he told Nikki that he would drop her home (Uttam Nagar) and then go back to his parent’s place in Najafgarh.

According to the police, Sahil told the cops during the investigation that Nikki got to know about his wedding scheduled on February 10, which he had kept a secret. An argument ensued between the duo in which Sahil allegedly strangulated Nikki with a data cable kept in his car. He later dumped her body in a refrigerator at his dhaba. The car used in the commission of crime has been seized by the police.

After dumping Nikki’s body, Sahil went off to marry another woman the same day. Sahil’s wedding took place 8-10 hours after Nikki was killed.

According to the police, Sahil’s body language was absolutely normal during the wedding and throughout the function. He behaved as if nothing had happened.

Devasted over his daughter’s murder, Nikki’s father demanded that Gehlot be hanged to death for this gruesome act.

"All we want now is justice and the culprit should be hanged to death," Sunil Yadav, who runs a motor repair business in Gurugram told mediapersons.

"Our daughter is gone. She is no more. All we want now is justice. The culprit should be awarded the strictest punishment and should be hanged to death for his brutal crime," he said.

The incident came to light on Valentine’s Day (February 14) and four days after the murder, Nikki’s body was recovered on Tuesday morning from the refrigerator at the eatery.
