New Delhi, April 26: Desperately in love with 23-year-old Deepshikha, Delhi’s Varun Mehta might have written hundreds of love notes to her. And even in his beloved’s death, Varun did not disappoint her.
Varun killed Deepshikha by repeatedly stabbing her and slitting her throat with a butcher’s knife in his car. He then wrote a note on how Deepshika betrayed him by "two-timing" him.
"How could you love somebody else? I never loved anybody else but you in three years of our relationship. I love you the most but I cannot take betrayal. Therefore, I have to kill you," wrote Varun in a note that he left in his Wagon R car, parked in an isolated corner of the Central Business District ground, opposite Surajmal Vihar in east Delhi on Sunday evening.
After Varun fled from the scene, passersby spotted the car and found the body of Deepshikha.
The cops found an I-card from Deepshikha’s body, bearing her name and residence phone number. They took the body to the mortuary and called up Deepshikha’s family.
Apart from the note, the butcher’s knife with which Varun had committed the act was also found lying on the front seat of the car (registration no. DL7CD6154).
The car is registered in the name of Varun who works with a finance company. Deepshikha was a teacher in a local school.
According to family members, Deepshikha had left home at around 4:30 pm and at 7:30 pm they got a call from the police about a body being found at the CBD ground. Both Deepshikha and Varun are residents of Vivek Vihar in east Delhi.
Top police officials rushed to the spot and the investigations were on till late Sunday night. An FIR has been registered under sections 302 and 120b of the IPC against Varun and the body has been sent for a post-mortem.
Family members and friends of Varun are being questioned to discover his whereabouts.
