Madhya Pradesh, April 8, 2025: The Madhya Pradesh Police have arrested a fake cardiologist accused of causing the deaths of seven patients at a prominent hospital in Damoh. The individual, identified as Dr. N. John Camm, was posing as a UK-returned cardiologist. He was brought to Damoh for questioning, and the police interrogation is underway.

Investigations revealed that Camm is a resident of Dehradun with an unclear past, dubious qualifications, and no legitimate cardiology credentials. Despite this, he was performing complex procedures at Damoh’s Mission Hospital, including angiographies and angioplasties.

According to the police, his Aadhaar card says his real name is Narendra Vikramaditya Yadav. His qualifications included an MBBS from Andhra Pradesh and multiple questionable MD and cardiology degrees from institutions in Darjeeling, Calcutta, and the UK. However, none of these degrees had verifiable registration numbers, raising concerns about their authenticity.

Dr. N. John Camm, who identified himself as an interventionist cardiologist associated with Klinikum Nürnberg Hospital in Germany, was arrested after an investigation by District Medical Officer M.K. Jain found that his medical degree did not have a registration number.

In his inquiry report, Jain revealed that Dr. N. John Camm wasn’t registered with the Madhya Pradesh Medical Council, a mandatory requirement to practice medicine in the state. The Mission Hospital failed to provide records verifying Dr. Camm’s credentials.

Based on this report, Camm was booked under Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Sections 318 (4) (cheating), 338 (forgery of important documents), 336 (3) (forgery with intent to deceive), and 340 (2) (use of forged documents) and 3(5) (joint criminal liability).

Yadav joined the hospital in Damoh through a placement agency and began treating heart patients under a fake identity.

According to the local authorities, he carried out 15 operations, which led to the death of seven patients.

The victims were identified as Rahisa Begum, Mangal Singh, Budha Ahirwal, Israel Khan, and Dasonda Raikwar. All died within hours of undergoing procedures allegedly conducted by him.

Abhishek Tiwari, CSP, Damoh, said, “CHMO (Chief Medical and Health Officer) Dr MK Jain has submitted a report stating that Dr. Narendra John Kem, employed at Mission Hospital, presented forged and fraudulent medical documents. The license he claimed to hold for medical practice was not registered. Investigations have revealed that he conducted angiographies and angioplasties without proper qualifications. Based on the findings and the suspicious nature of his documents, we have filed a case against him for forgery, fraud, and use of fabricated documents".

Pushpa Khare, In-Charge Manager, Mission Hospital, said that Narendra was appointed through IWUS, an agency registered with the Madhya Pradesh government. The agency, she said, was responsible for verifying the doctor’s credentials and documents.
