Maggi row: ‘Why blame only mothers,’ asks Twitter reacting to BJP MLA’s comment

New Delhi june 10,15:BJP MLA Uma Thakur, was recently in the spotlight for making a controversial comment about the “new generation mothers,” blaming them for being “lazy” and responsible for the rise of instant Maggi noodles.

 

“I don’t know why the mothers have become so lazy (that they feed their kids instant noodles)? Mothers of our generation used to serve homemade food like ‘paratha’, ‘halwa’ and ‘sivaia’ to their children,” said Thakur on Saturday while defending the ban on Maggi noodles.

Numerous people on Twitter voiced their opinion criticising the ruling party’s MLA for her misogynous statement, including Secretary of All India Progressive Women Association, Kavita Krishnan.

However Thakur’s statement found some support on Twitter as well with Senior Fellow at the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies Madhu Kishwar defending the comment.
