Srinagar, Aug 05, 2023: An earthquake of magnitude 5.2 hit Jammu and Kashmir’s Gulmarg early on Saturday. The National Center for Seismology (NCS) reported the jolt took place at 8:36 earlier today. The agency stated the epicentre was 129 km below the surface of the earth, about 184 km from Gulmarg.
There are no immediate reports of any damage.
According to officials, 12 tremors with varied intensity have jolted Jammu and Kashmir since June this year.
Previously, an earthquake of magnitude 4.9 hit Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district early on July 10.
A 5.4 magnitude earthquake hit the Doda district on June 13, causing cracks in dozens of buildings, including houses.
