Mumbai, October 23: A major mishap was averted at Mumbai airport when a wing of a Jet Airways aircraft brushed against the tail of a Kingfisher plane at 0205 hrs on Friday night.
While the Jet Airways plane had 122 passengers on board, the Kingfisher did not. There were, however, no reports of injuries.
The incident happened when Jet airways flight 9W 540 (Bombay - Muscat) was pushing back into a bay.
The Jet airways flight was at bay 85 and the Kingfisher airline aircraft was parked in the adjacent bay 84.
Passengers of the Jet Airways flight were then flown to their destinations by another aircraft.
Both aircraft have been grounded and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) investigating the incident.
In a statement released later, Jet Airways said the incident was being probed in coordination with the authorities. Kingfisher also said the extent of damage was being probed and their engineering team was carrying out maintenance work.
