Kannur, Nov 04, 2022: A Kerala man was arrested by police in Kannur district’s Thalassery for kicking a six-year-old boy who had leaned on his parked car. The entire incident was recorded on CCTV cameras in the area.
The incident took place near the old Thalassery bus stand at around 8 pm. The six-year-old boy is from a Rajasthani family that had migrated to Kerala for work. The accused was identified as Shihshad, a native of Ponniam Palam.
Shihshad had parked his car and gone to a shop. When he returned, he found the boy leaning against his car. Enraged, Shishad began to assault the boy and also kicked him.

Upon seeing the man assaulting a boy, residents in the area intervened in the matter and took the man to the police station. However, the police did not register a case immediately and asked him to appear again on Friday morning. Locals also took the injured boy to the government hospital for treatment.
Union Minister V Muraleedharan tweeted, “First, CPI(M) Ministers insult people from UP... Now, some rouge individual kicks an Innocent migrant. Shame!"
On Friday morning, based on the CCTV footage, police registered a case and arrested him under Sections 308 (attempt to culpable homicide) and 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code.
Responding to the incident, Women and Child Development minister, Veena George, said, “ Strict action will be taken in the matter. It is highly condemnable and cruel. The government will stand with the victim’s family.”
