The man, identified as Ulaganathan, was a 60-year-old retired government employee. He reached the temple in the early hours of Friday and ended his life by setting himself on fire.
Locals, who found the suicide note in the temple, claimed that the deceased had prayed for DMK leader Senthil Balaji’s victory and wished for the party to come back to power.
