Mumbai, July 1, 2011:  Mumbai Police today claimed to have prevented an attack on an ’important’ film personality with the arrest of two alleged members of Ravi Pujari gang, who had planned to open firing at the residence of the celebrity in western suburbs.

The two accused Kalam Nazeem Khan (32) and Sayyed Sahid Hussain (25) were arrested from outside the residence of the ’important’ film personality last night before they could execute the crime, Joint Police Commissioner (Crime) Himanshu Roy said.

"The two had planned to open firing at the residence of this personality last night at the behest of Pujari. They were supposed to leave a slip in which abusive language was used and a telephone number was written," Roy said.

However, the IPS officer parried the questions when asked about the identity of the film personality.

Two 9 mm pistols, nine cartridges and three mobile phones were recovered from the two, who were produced before a local court which remanded them in police custody till July 8, he said.

"Pujari had instructed them to open firing and leave a slip stating that if the personality does not call on the telephone number mentioned on it, he would be killed," Roy added.

Roy did not clarify if the victim was at the residence at the time the duo was caught but stated that, "The victim earlier did not complain about any threats from anybody. But now he has been provided security".
