Addressing the Congress chief ministers’ meeting in New Delhi, Manmohan Singh said: "I have to acknowledge that my successor has been a more adept salesman, event manager and communicator than me."

He also accused the Modi government of repackaging the UPA government’s initiatives and marketing them as new.
"Many of our initiatives are being repackaged and are being aggressively marketed as something new," he said.

Meanwhile, Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday launched yet another attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of "ignoring communal remarks" by his colleagues, "bypassing Parliament" and pursuing an "unprecedented centralisation of power" which she said posed a "threat to the civil society".

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi is projecting himself as a champion of good governance, but he is allowing his colleagues to make communal statements," Sonia said at a meeting of the Congress chief ministers in New Delhi.

"There is now an unprecedented centralisation of power, bypassing of Parliament, threats to civil society and warnings to judiciary under Modi," the 67-year-old leader said, adding, "There are systematic attempts being made to dismantle the edifice of welfare state built by Congress governments."
