Nation lost one of its bravest sons: President Kovind, PM Modi condole Gen Bipin Rawat’s death

New Delhi, Dec 08, 2021: Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat lost his life in a helicopter crash in Tamil Nadu’s Coonoor on Wednesday. President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered condolences on General Bipin Rawat’s demise.President Ram Nath Kovind condoled the death of General Bipin Rawat and said, “I am shocked and anguished over the untimely demise of Gen. Bipin Rawat and his wife, Madhulika ji. The nation has lost one of its bravest sons. His four decades of selfless service to the motherland was marked by exceptional gallantry and heroism. My condolences to his family.”Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, “Gen Bipin Rawat was an outstanding soldier. A true patriot, he greatly contributed to modernising our armed forces and security apparatus. His insights and perspectives on strategic matters were exceptional. His passing away has saddened me deeply. Om Shanti.”

CDS General Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat, and 11 other persons on board IAF chopper died in Tamil Nadu chopper crash on Wednesday.

 


Calling it “an extremely unfortunate helicopter accident”, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said, “Deeply anguished by the sudden demise of Chief of Defence Staff Gen Bipin Rawat, his wife and 11 other Armed Forces personnel in an extremely unfortunate helicopter accident today in Tamil Nadu. His untimely death is an irreparable loss to our Armed Forces and the country.”

 


Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, “No words adequate to express my grief at the tragic demise of CDS Gen.#BipinRawat, Smt. Rawat and 11 army personnel. Gen. Bipin Rawat’s service to the nation will be well remembered. Smt.Madhulika Rawat rendered service through the AWWA. A big loss to the Indian Armed Forces.”Delhi chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “Extremely tragic. God bless their soul.”Uttar Pradesh Chief Minsiter Yogi Adityanath said that demise of General Bipin Rawat is an irreparable loss to the nation.

 


He tweeted (in Hindi), “The death of CDS General Bipin Rawat and his wife in an unfortunate accident in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu, is extremely sad. Shri Rawat ji will always be remembered as an outstanding military officer. His untimely demise is an irreparable loss to the nation.”

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya offered condolences to the families of all who died in the chopper crash on Wednesday.

“The news of the death of CDS General Bipin Rawat, his wife and other army officers in the tragic accident in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu is extremely painful. This is a great and irreparable loss to the country. I extend my deepest condolences to the families of all,” Mansukh Mandaviya said.

Former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, “I was deeply saddened to learn about the deadly helicopter crash that killed India’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Bipin Rawat, his wife and 11 others in Tamil Nadu.My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims. May they rest in peace.”

Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa also condoled the death of CDS General Bipin Rawat.


The Sri Lanka Air Force tweeted condolences to the families of those who died in helicopter crash on Wednesday.
