Chennai, Oct 19, 2022: VK Sasikala, on Tuesday, reacted to the Arumughaswamy Commission’s report that cast suspicion on her and three others regarding former CM Jayalalithaa’s death, and said that she was ready to face any inquiry and that she had never interfered with Jayalalithaa’s medical treatment.

The Arumughaswamy Commission’s report was tabled in the Tamil Nadu assembly on Tuesday. In its concluding statements, the report cast suspicion on former health minister Vijayabaskar, VK Sasikala and two other officials and said that the fault “must lie with them.”

The panel further recommended launching an investigation into the suspects.

’DMK’S TACTIC TO DEFAME JAYALALITHAA’

Reacting to the report, VK Sasikala said, “I don’t mind being framed. This is not new to me. But, I’m saddened to see my sister’s image getting tainted. After I went to prison, those here used Amma’s death for political reasons instead of celebrating her life. They fell prey to DMK’s tactics to defame Jayalalithaa.”

She further said, “There are several ways to ostracise me from politics, but it is cruel to use Amma’s death for it. After politicising Amma’s death, Arumughaswamy commission’s report has also now been politicised.”

’READY TO FACE ANY KIND OF INQUIRY’

VK Sasikala firmly stated that there were no suspicious circumstances in former CM Jayalalithaa’s death.

“As she was getting well and ready to be discharged, unfortunately, she left us. How is it fair for the commission to lay blame on me instead of following supreme court directions but raising assumptions?” she questioned.

Recalling her history with Jayalalithaa, VK Sasikala said, “I’ve been staying with Amma for nearly 30 years, protecting her like a mother. I never intervened in her treatment. All I wanted was for her to get the best treatment. I never stopped Amma from being taken abroad for treatment.”

She added, “Even AIIMS doctors decided that there was no need for an Angio. People will not believe the commission’s report based on assumptions. I deny all accusations against me and I’m ready to face any kind of inquiry. People have understood that there is no issue in Amma’s death.”
