Bangalore, Mar 14 2012: Nine advocates were taken into preventive custody today when they tried to stage a dharna in the city civil court premises, where prohibitory orders are still in force after the March 2 violence when mediapersons and police personnel were attacked by lawyers.
"We have taken nine lawyers into preventive custody as they were trying to stage a protest in the city civil court complex where prhibitory orders are in force till March 18", Deputy Commissoner of Police (Central Division) G Ramesh told PTI.
Sixtyfive persons, including 52 police peronnel, were injured when lawyers went on a rampage on March 2, protesting presence of mediapersons to cover the appearance of former Minister and mining baron Janardhan Reddy in a mining case in the city civil court complex.
Following the incident, prohibitory orders were imposed in and around the civil court complex premises.
