Delhi, Feb 11, 2020: Parents of 2012 Delhi gangrape and murder victim, who has come to be known as Nirbhaya, have sought a fresh date to hang the four convicts. The date of the execution of the four of the six culprits has been postponing due to pleas being filed by the convicts.
One of the six convicts was a minor and another had committed suicide during trial, India Today reported.
Filing a fresh plea seeking new date for death warrant for four convicts in Patiala House court, Nirbhaya’s parents said that convicts were making a mockery and frustrating the law.
The court has issued a notice to four convicts in this regard. The plea will be heard at 2 pm on Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, the SC also issued a notice to the four convicts seeking their response on the Centre’s appeal challenging the Delhi High Court verdict which dismissed its plea against stay on their execution.
The court had on January 31 stayed "till further orders" execution of the four convicts in the case -- Mukesh Kumar Singh (32), Pawan (25), Vinay (26) and Akshay (31), who are lodged in Tihar Jail.
The first order for execution of death sentence, issued on January 7 for January 22, was stayed on January 17. The second warrant, issued on January 17, for February 1 was stayed on January 31.
The 23-year-old physiotherapy intern, who came to be known as ’Nirbhaya’ (fearless), was gang-raped and savagely assaulted on the night of December 16, 2012, in a moving bus in South Delhi. She died of her injuries a fortnight later in a Singapore hospital.

Six people including the four convicts, Ram Singh and a juvenile -- were named as accused.
Ram Singh, the prime accused, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in Tihar jail days after the trial began. The juvenile, who was said to be the most brutal of the attackers, was put in a correctional home for three years.
The juvenile was released in 2015 and sent to an undisclosed location amid concerns over a threat to his life. He, when released, was 20 years old.
