Odisha: 14-year-old charred to death while taking selfie atop stationary train in Gajapati

Odisha, Dec 17, 2020:     A-14-year old boy was charred to death while attempting to take a selfie atop a stationary train at the Paralakhemundi railway station in Gajapati district of Odisha on Wednesday evening.

According to sources, the fatal incident took place when the youth climbed atop a bogey of the train and was taking a selfie.

The 14-year-old youth accidently came in contact with overhead live wire and got critically injured due to electrocution.

He was rushed to the nearest hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Two of his friends who were on the ground also received minor burns, sources said.

As the train bogey also caught fire after the incident, fire personnel rushed to the spot to douse the fire.

A committee has been constituted by the division railway manager, to investigate the incident.

According to sources, Corona Special Train was stationed at Paralakhemundi railwaystation in Gajapati district for the last few days.
