Bengaluru, September 3, 2023: BJP leader and former Karnataka minister KS Eshwarappa yet again sparked controversy by claiming that Operation Lotus would begin soon in the state to topple the ruling Congress government.

Addressing the media on Saturday, Eshwarappa said the Congress has no future in the country, claiming that there will be no Congress government in the state after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

"The Congress party is making big news in the state. They are saying that half of the BJP MLAs will come to our party, but not a single MLA has gone to Congress," said the BJP MLA from Shivamogga.

Eshwarappa went on to challenge the Congress to lure at least one MLA from the BJP and set a one-month deadline for it.

"Wait and watch, your [Congress] own MLAs don’t have hope on you, Congress has no future in this country," he said.

Earlier in the month of June, Eshwarappa stoked controversy by saying mosques would be demolished to build temples.

Eshwarappa announced his retirement from electoral politics in April this year.
