New Delhi, May 8: Over 100 Air India pilots have gone on a strike since midnight leading to cancellation of five international flights. According to reports, over 100 Air India pilots have called in sick and another 200 may join in.
Two Air India flights from Delhi to Chicago and Toronto and two from Mumbai to New Jersey and Hong Kong have been cancelled since Monday night.
The cancellations led to several angry passengers, who were left stranded at the airports.
"I am really frustrated. It’s very annoying and irritating. I don’t want to come here again," said a passenger, who was to fly to Toronto from Delhi last night.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah too expressed his dissatisfaction. "Excellent, well done Air India. This is just the way you drag yourself out of the hole you find yourself in, cancel more flights," Mr Abdullah tweeted on Tuesday morning.
With more pilots threatening to join the strike, the disruptions in Air India’s international flight schedule is likely to continue today.
