New Delhi, Nov 4, 2021: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who visited Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday to celebrate Diwali with soldiers, lauded Indian Army jawans for their efforts in protecting the nation. While addressing them in the Nowshera sector in the Rajouri district, PM Modi said, "...soldiers are the suraksha kawach [protective shield] of Maa Bharti [Mother India]."
PM Modi arrived in the Nowshera sector in Rajouri early in the morning, keeping up with his practice of celebrating Diwali with Army personnel. Upon his arrival, he met top Army officials and other jawans.
After meeting the officials in the forward area of the Nowshera sector, PM Modi addressed the soldiers and said, "I want to spend Diwali with family members, so I join you on the festival."
"Our soldiers are the ’suraksha kawach’ of ’Maa Bharti’. It is because of you all that people of our country can sleep peacefully and there is happiness during festivals," PM Modi said, adding, "Your capability and strength ensure peace and security for the country."
PM Modi said, "I have spent each Diwali with soldiers guarding our borders. Today, I have brought along with me the blessings of crores of Indians for our soldiers here."
