PM Says Budget Will Accelerate Tempo Of Economic Growth

New Delhi, March 16 ; Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh today said, the Union Budget will definitely accelerate the tempo of economic growth which has been affected by global slowdown.

 
In an interview over Doordarshan, Dr Singh said," right now the challenge before the nation is to accelerate the tempo of economic growth and at the same time to ensure we do not slip on our obligations for moderating pricerise."
 
"On both the fronts, the Finance Minister has tackled well", Dr Singh said.
 
"The biggest single thing for fiscal prudence is  by controlling fiscal deficit which is presently as high as 5.9 per cent and the Finance Minister wants to bring it down to 5.1 per cent of the GDP. If that happenes, that will be a great contribution to pricelevel", said the Prime Minister.
