New Delhi, Feb 22, 2013:  Both houses of parliament were adjourned Friday after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a noisy protest over the Hyderabad bombings. In the Lok Sabha, there was added chaos with Tamil members denouncing "war crimes" in Sri Lanka.

ParliamentAIADMK and DMK members were on their feet as the Lok Sabha met, flashing pictures of the slain LTTE chief Velupillai Prabhakaran’s 12-year-old son who was reportedly shot dead in cold blood in May 2009.

There was uproar as they trooped towards Speaker Meira Kumar shouting slogans against the Sri Lankan regime.

Amid the din, BJP members began shouting slogans demanding suspension of question hour and immediate discussion on the Thursday evening bombings in Hyderabad that killed 16 people.

Meira Kumar’s repeated requests to let question hour run and a promise that time would be allotted for the Hyderabad discussion were not heeded. She finally adjourned the house till 12 noon.

Similar scenes were witnessed in the Rajya Sabha where the BJP demanded a statement from Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde on the Hyderabad blasts.
Minister of State for Home R.P.N. Singh told the house that Shinde would make a statement at 2.30 p.m.

But this did not assuage the BJP MPs, who continued with the sloganeering. A frustrated Chairman Hamid Ansari adjourned the house till noon.
