New Delhi, Jan 11, 2020:  Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) chief Mayawati lashed out at the Congress on Saturday for ignoring the death of over 110 infants in a Kota hospital in Congress-ruled Rajasthan.

In a series of tweets, Mayawati accused the Congress of double standards and said: "Unlike the Congress, BJP or any other party, BSP does not play cheap politics by adopting double standards on any issue. It is because of this double standard that violence, tension and chaos over some or the other matter is prevailing across the nation."

"Even in his situation, Congress, like other parties, is not ready to change itself. The latest example is from the Congress-ruled Rajasthan where a large number of innocent children have died due to negligence in a government hospital in Kota," Mayawati said.
Without naming Congress’ UP general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Mayawati criticised her for not visiting the Kota hospital and said: "While a Congress leader visits Uttar Pradesh every now and then to shed crocodile tears, but she could not find time to visit Kota to wipe tears of the mothers of the children who have died, even though she is also a mother. It is very unfortunate."On January 2, Mayawati targeted Priyanka Gandhi over the same issue and said: "It is very sad that the Congress General Secretary is keeping mum on the deaths of 100 children in the Kota hospital. It would have been better if like Uttar Pradesh, she would have met the mothers of the children who have died in the hospital, due to the apathy of the government of her party in the state."

"If the Congress General Secretary does not go and meet the Kota families who are affected by the tragedy, then her outreach towards victims in Uttar Pradesh would be considered political opportunism, from which the public of Uttar Pradesh is advised to stay alert," she said.

In December 2019, over 110 children had died at the JK Lon hospital in Kota and the toll has now gone up by seven in the first four days of January 2020.
