Pro-Kannada activists deface Hindi signboards in Namma Metro

Jul 20 2017, DH: Pro-Kannada activists have intensified their protest against the imposition of Hindi language in Bengaluru’s Namma Metro. Taking an extreme step, the activists defaced the Hindi signboards at several Metro stations in the wee hours of Thursday.


Namma MetroIt is reported that Peenya, Rajajinagara, Yeshwanthpur, Jayanagara and Chickpete are some of the metro stations, where the activists were successful in defacing the Hindi fonts on the signboards.

There was also an attempt made to deface the Hindi fonts on signboard in MG Road metro station. However, the activists were immediately taken into custody. According to the eyewitness, "Around 2:30 am, nearly 10 pro-Kannada activists approached MG Road Metro station by holding playcards and banners. Policemen, who were on the duty took them to custody and failed their attempt." They denounced against the centre for imposing Hindi in Bengaluru.
