Pune, Dec 7, 2013 (NDTV): A group of activists demonstrated outside the Yerawada Central Jail in Pune today, protesting against the parole granted to actor Sanjay Dutt. Waving black flags and banners, the activists shouted slogans, demanding that Mr Dutt should not be granted parole and must be treated at par with other prisoners.
Police deployment has been beefed up outside the jail since last night with Mr Dutt expected to be released soon.

The actor was granted parole for a month yesterday after he filed an application citing his wife’s illness. However, while the 53-year-old claimed his wife was unwell and secured the parole, Maanayata Dutt was seen at two separate events on Thursday. According to Mid-Day, Mrs Dutt was present at a special screening of ’R.... Rajkumar’ at a studio in Juhu. After the event, Mrs Dutt, along with actors Shahid Kapur and Ayushmann Khurana went to a birthday party.
This would be the third time that Mr Dutt would come out on parole in the past three months.
Mr Dutt had earlier been granted a 14-day medical furlough in the beginning of October, which was extended further by another 14 days on health grounds. He was effectively at his Mumbai home all of October and returned to the prison on October 30.
The actor is serving the remaining 42 months of his five-year sentence for involvement in the March 1993 Mumbai serial blasts. Having served 18 months in jail as an under-trial, Mr Dutt started his stint in the Yerawada jail on May 16.
Though he spent Diwali in jail along with the other inmates, he is likely to enjoy Christmas and New Year with his family.
