RSS worker, accused in the Kodinhi Faisal murder case killed

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 24 2017, DH News : A Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) activist accused in the murder of a Hindu man who converted to Islam was killed by a gang of unidentified men in Malappuram, early on Thursday.


RSS.jBipin (26) was attacked in Tirur at about 7 am. He was on his motorbike, heading to his workplace, when the armed assailants intercepted and assaulted him. Bipin suffered multiple injuries in the attack and was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead.

Bipin is accused in the November 2016 killing of 30-year-old Faizal Pullani (Aneesh Kumar before he converted to Islam). Faizal’s mutilated body was found in a drain near his village Kodinhi. Police had arrested 16 people with affiliations to the Sangh Parivar in connection with Faizal’s murder. Faizal’s brother-in-law, Vinod Pullani, is among the accused in the case. Bipin was released on bail in April.

Police presence in the Tirur region has been increased following Bipin’s killing. The local BJP leadership called for a high-level investigation into the killing. “The murder has been methodically executed by what appears to be an extremist outfit. Recently, another person listed as accused in the Faizal case (Thayyil Lijeesh) was also attacked,” Ravi Thelath, BJP Malappuram district general secretary, told Deccan Herald. The BJP called for a hartal between 2 pm and 8 pm in Tirur.

Following the murder of Faizal, nine of his family members including his mother and sisters embraced Islam. His wife Priya had converted to Islam before his death.
