"No one will be able to save those who are joining the Congress. What if a situation arises that all opposition parties come together to join hands. Then after getting betrayed from Congress, they will be forced to start a #MeToo campaign," Rajnath Singh said.

His comment comes at a time when survivors from all walks of the society are coming forward to call out the accused who have sexually harassed them in the past. Journalist-turned-politician MJ Akbar also had to step down as the Minister of State for External Affairs over allegations of sexual harassment levelled by several women against him.

Interestingly, the Centre has constituted a Group of Ministers (GoM) to examine the existing legal and institutional frameworks for dealing with such matters which will be chaired by the Home Minister. Other ministers on the panel include Nitin Gadkari, Nirmala Sitharaman and Maneka Sanjay Gandhi.

Recently, former BJP Union minister Jaswant Singh’s son Manvendra Singh and former Maharashtra BJP MLA Ashish Deshmukh joined the Congress. Singh, an MLA quit the BJP in September while Deshmukh had resigned as an MLA earlier in October citing ’Rafale scam’ as the reason.
