Repeated Mumbai attacks prove policy failure: Advani

Mangalore Today / NDTV

Mumbai, July 14:     Senior BJP leader LK Advani is in Mumbai. He visited Opera House this morning, the location of one of three serial blasts that erupted during Mumbai’s rush hour last evening.  Here are the points he made at a press conference:

Advani -Mumbai Blast

Mumbai has become a favourite target of terrorists -whether they are from neighbouring countries or from here

In 1993, serial blasts in Mumbai -the first of their kind in the country.  Dawood’s name was established

After that, Mumbai has remained a victim of terror

It is not an intelligence failure...I don’t accuse the government of that...this is a proxy war

If our policies remain what they have been on terror, these incidents will happen

Musharraf said at the Agra summit:  J&K is not terror, it is freedom movement

BJP had said our approach on terror would be zero-tolerance

We sent him back, saying if that’s your approach, then we have no further talks to offer

In 2004, after SAARC summit, he said in a joint statement with Vajpayee that no part of Pak will be used for terror.  Only when he said that, we started some kind of dialogue

This government in 10 years has revised its stand on Pak so often. Pak keeps saying Kashmir is disputed territory, how are we talking to them?

Till Pak first accepts and tackles its infra-structure for terror, we cannot speak to them

Even if Indian Mujahideen caused these new blasts, they get their support from Pakistan

India should work to have ISI declared a terrorist organization

As far as India is concerned, the government must shed its ambivalence towards terrorism. It must be categorical in declaring that total policy of India towards terrorism hereafter shall be of zero-tolerance.  We will not tolerate anything which seems to promote or condone or compromise or disregard any terrorist activity. This should be a basic premise of our relationship with Pak - that it will have to dismantle the infrastructure that it has created for terror
