Assam, Sep 09, 2019 : A retired Air Force officer from Assam committed suicide at a hotel in Uttar Pradesh’s Allahabad and left a startling suicide note addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi Yahoo reported.
In the 5-page long letter, the deceased, Bijan Das, has blamed former Finance Minister P Chidambaram for the current economic condition of the country and said that one cannot blame the Modi government for the slowdown.
The 55-year-old retired Air Force officer hanged himself from a hotel room in Allahabad’s Khuldabad area. Bijan Das was lodged at the Prayag Hotel since September 6. He did not come out of his room on Sunday. It was only in the evening that the waiter informed the manager that Das had not moved from the room the entire day. The staff later peeped into the room and saw that he was hanging from a ceiling fan.
He left Rs 1500 for his own cremation along with the suicide note and another Rs 500 to pay for the room. Das also added that he couldn’t give more money to those who would cremate him because of his financial condition.
While blaming the UPA government for scams and financial mismanagement, Bijan Das has said that the because of the slowdown he has failed to do anything after retirement.
"When there is financial mismanagement, the effect is not instant. Its effect comes after few years. So it is totally wrong to blame Modi Govt alone for economic slowdown. Note ban or implementation of GST may have effect temporarily but one cannot blame this for economic slowdown," the suicide note read.
Bijan Das also goes on to make some observations about Chidambaram’s arrest in the INX Media case.
Talking about his own failures, Bijan Das has said he couldn’t do anything for his young son, who is a singer and was part of the singing reality show ’Saregamapa Little Champs’.
Bijan Das has asked PM Modi to help his son Vivek Das to achieve his dreams of becoming a singer.
He has also asked the Allahabad administration to not call his family for his cremation as he doesn’t want his son to see his body. He has asked the authorities to bury his body in Allahabad itself. Police has however contacted the family for further investigation in the case.
