Rs 24-crore pure MDMA seized by Bengaluru Police in biggest drug bust ever in Karnataka

Bengaluru, Dec 17, 2024: The Bengaluru police’s crime branch has cracked down on a drug racket and recovered 12 kg of banned pure MDMA crystals worth an estimated Rs 24 crore. This, the police say, is the largest drug seizure in the state so far.

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) also arrested a foreign national woman who operated the drug ring.

“Acting on specific information about the woman suspect, who stayed in TC Palya area, the crime branch launched the search operation,” Bengaluru police commissioner B Dayananda announced on Tuesday.

“During the raid, the police recovered a large quantity of drugs from the premises belonging to the suspect. Around 70 SIM cards have been recovered. During questioning, the suspect confessed that she supplied the drugs to foreign nationals, college students and private employees.”
The banned substance is suspected to have been smuggled into the city through Mumbai by another female foreign national suspect.

“Efforts are underway to apprehend the second suspect. We believe this is Karnataka’s largest recovery so far,” the commissioner added.
