SHOCKING: Martyred policeman’s family asked to return Rs 10,000 given for his last rites

Raipur, April 15, 2015:  In a shocking case of apathy towards a fallen soldier, the Chhattisgarh Police has demanded Rs 10,000 back it provided to the family of a martyred Special Police Officer for his last rites.

The family of Special Police Officer Kishore Pandey received the first notice in this regard on June 08, 2014 and the second notice on April 12, 2015.

The money used for Pandey’s last rites was given from a welfare fund. Pandey was killed in a Naxal attack in Chhattisgarh on May 23, 2011.

Reacting to the incident, former Army chief and Minister of State for External Affairs General (retired) VK Singh said it could be a “clerical mistake”.
