SRFTI suspends 3 faculty members over sexual harassment complaint

Kolkata, December 15, 2015: Three faculty members at Kolkata’s prestigious Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) have been suspended following complaints of sexual harassment. The institute has set up an internal committee to probe the multiple complaints levelled by several female students.

The allegations surfaced last month at a meeting of all female students with the chairperson of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) for sexual harassment.

The charges include faculty members engaging in body shaming in class. Some female students have also alleged that certain faculty members also passed comments that were sexual in nature.

SRFTI is tightlipped over the development and said they are awaiting the report of the ICC before taking any further action.
