Bengaluru, Feb 15, 2017: AIADMK chief V K Sasikala on Wednesday left her Poes Garden residence for Bengaluru to serve a jail term of around 3-and-half years out of the 4 years awarded by the trial court after the Supreme Court refused to entertain a plea seeking more time to surrender for undergoing a jail term in the disproportionate assets case.

Sasikala made a brief stop-over at Jayalalithaa’s memorial and paid tribute to the former chief minister before departing for Bengaluru.

The Apex Court had on Tuesday dashed Sasikala’s hopes of becoming the chief minister of Tamil Nadu by upholding a Bengaluru court judgement convicting her in a 20-year-old case relating to the acquisition of disproportionate assets by J Jayalalithaa.
