Puttaparthi, July 14:  Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s mahasamadhi was unveiled in Prasanthi Nilayam ashram in Puttaparthi today. The mahasamadhi is located in the Sai Kulwant Hall of the ashram, where Sai Baba used to give darshan to his devotees. It is a rectangular, white marble edifice - 9 ft long, 6 ft wide and 2 ft 2 inches high. It has been constructed just above where Sai Baba was laid to rest after his demise on April 24.

Saibaba samadhiBaba’s devotees have gathered in Puttaparthi in large numbers for darshan of the mahasamadhi.

The Sathya Sai Central Trust, which manages the affairs of Sai Baba’s spiritual empire, had announced that the mahasamadhi would be built in a grand and befitting manner.

Meanwhile, investigations are on into the activities of the Sathya Sai Trust after Rs. 35 lakhs were seized in cash from an ashram vehicle last month. The trust has, however, refuted any wrongdoings and has said that the cash seized was money given by a devotee for the construction of the mahasamadhi - a memorial for Sai Baba. It maintains that financial transparency is being strictly followed while running the body.
