Seven Army men trapped in avalanche in Arunachal, rescue ops underway

New Delhi, Feb 07, 2022: Atleast seven Indian Army personnel, part of a patrol, were buried under the snow after an avalanche hit in Kameng Sector of Arunachal Pradesh on February 6.

A search and rescue operation is currently underway. Specialised teams have been airlifted to assist in rescue operations. The area has been witnessing inclement weather with heavy snowfall since the last few days.

The incident took place in the high-altitude area of Kameng Sector yesterday. The Army airlifted search and rescue teams to the location and operations were underway when the reports last came in.

The Army said in a statement that the area has been reporting inclement weather with heavy snowfall for the last several days.
