MUMBAI, March 23: Veteran Bollywood actor Shashi Kapoor was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award on Monday.
The Dadasaheb Phalke Award is India’s highest award in cinema and given to a person for his or her ‘outstanding contribution to the growth and development of Indian cinema’.
Lyricist, poet and Oscar-winner Gulzar won the award in 2014.
Shashi Kapoor, 76, has featured in over 160 movies. He has also won three National Awards and the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010.
The charming actor, who is best known for movies like Deewar, Silsila and Satyam Shivam Sundaram, has undergone a bypass surgery.
His health has been indifferent over the past few years.
