Following the prime accused and Shraddha Walkar’s live-in partner, Aaftab Ameen Poonawala’s confession, police conducted at least three rounds of searches in the Mehrauli forest, where Aaftab had dumped the body parts of his girlfriend over a period of 20 days after killing her, sawing her body and storing the pieces in a fridge. Aaftab had confessed after his arrest on Monday. Police had also taken Aaftab to the Mehrauli forest to identify the locations where he dumped Shraddha’s body parts.

The Delhi Police team visited the forest thrice on November 16. The police found some bones during the search at 6 am. The Delhi Police team reached the Mehrauli forest area near the 100-foot road at 9 am, again, and what transpired was shocking. The police found a big bone that appeared to be like a femur bone (also called the thigh bone, which is the longest bone of the body).

During the third round, the Delhi Police team reached the jungle area near Chhatarpur Enclave and the jungle area near Metro Pillar. They found bones like radius-ulna (bone between the wrist and elbow), patella (knee cap) and a femur.

Police said the recovered bones have cut marks. They said they were cut with a big sharp weapon.

However, police officers are unsure if the bones were Shraddha’s. Police said the picture will be clear only after the Forensic Science Laboratory investigation.
