Siddaramaiah writes to PM Modi, Agriculture Minister on red chilli price crash in Karnataka

Bengaluru, March 11, 2025: Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah on Tuesday wrote to PM Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Agriculture Shivraj Singh Chouhan regarding farmers of the state struggling as red chilli prices crash below production costs especially in the Kalyana Karnataka region.

"Our farmers in Karnataka, especially in the Kalyana Karnataka region, are struggling as red chilli prices crash below production costs. The Union Govt must act now!" the CM wrote on X.

Further, he mentioned three demands: MIP increase to ₹13,500/qtl, 75 per cent production coverage, and full price deficiency payment by Centre.

"Farmers’ fate cannot be left to market volatility influenced by Union Govt’s domestic & export policies. Karnataka stands with its farmers!" he added.
