Six factory workers killed in a freak accident in Kalaburagi

Kalaburagi, Aug 04, 2018 : At least six workers from Bihar have been killed and many more injured after a crane fell on them in Shree Cement Factory near Benakanahalli village at Sedam taluk, Kalaburagi district, on Thursday night.

 

While Tabarak Rehman Ali (25) died on the spot, Khokho (26), Sudhakar Sahani (33) and M.D. Juber (32) died at Kalaburagi’s United Hospital. The other victims, Bipin Sahani (32) and Ajay (27) passed away at the Chirau Hospital. The police said that the number of deaths was expected to rise, considering the criticality of the injured.

As per information provided by the police, the workers were on duty, doing some welding when the crane collapsed on them due to gusty wind. Police rushed to the spot and swung into rescue operation along with the workers.

It is learned that a worker had been killed in an accident in the same factory a couple of months ago.
