New Delhi, July 21, 2022: Congress workers are likely to stage a massive protest in Delhi as interim President Sonia Gandhi appears before the Enforcement Directorate on Thursday for questioning in the National Herald case. Police said that the Congress has not applied for permission to stage a protest. The development comes amid the Monsoon session of Parliament.

Anticipating a law-and-order situation, the Delhi Police is on high alert. The Congress has planned protests against the ED and the central government just like those it staged when Rahul Gandhi had been summoned by the ED for questioning in the same case on June 13. Several senior leaders of the party, including sitting and former CMs from the Congress, had reached Delhi to take part in the protests then.

Special arrangements will be made by the Delhi Police in the New Delhi district. The police will keep an eye on all the roads leading to New Delhi district by putting up barricades. Security outside the Congress headquarters, Sonia Gandhi’s home and the ED office have been beefed up.

Anticipating heavy traffic snarls in New Delhi, the police have created several diversions.

At the same time, there will be a heavy police deployment along all the borders of Delhi.
