Srinagar: Two National Conference workers killed by suspected militants

Srinagar, Oct 05, 2018 : As per media reports, two workers of the National Conference were shot dead and another was injured after being attacked by suspected militants in the Habbakadal area of Srinagar city.

 

Local dailies reported that the militants attacked the close aides of NC MLA for Habbakadal constituency Shamima Firdous at Karfali Mohalla. The MLA at whose house the 2 were shot dead has z plus security

The three injured activists were shifted to the hospital for treatment, they said.

However, two critically wounded Mushtaq Ahmad Wani and Nazir Ahmad Wani succumbed to their injuries on way to the hospital, they said.

A police officer has confirmed the incident and said that a search has been launched to find the perpetrators.

The SSP of Srinagar, Imtiaz Ismail Parray told news agency ANI, "Two people have been killed, they had some political background, we are ascertaining more details."

National Conference leader Omar Abdullah has strongly condemned the killing of his party workers.

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti also offered her condolences to the families of the deceased. This is not the first time that terrorists have targeted National Conference. In July, gunmen attacked a police post just outside the residence of party leader Gh Muhadin and killed two police personnel.
