Even though the judge is recovering well, sources suggest that the bench headed by the judge will not assemble for the coming few days.

The matter regarding the Covid-19 crisis is being heard by a bench headed by Justice Chandrachud. The hearing was also scheduled to happen tomorrow.

In absence of the judge, the hearing is likely to be adjourned for another date.

According to a Bar and Bench report, Justice Chandrachud sat to hear the case via video conference on Monday but the hearing eventually got deferred to Thursday due to technical glitches.

The Supreme Court bench of Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice MR Shah had on Saturday constituted a 12-member national task force that would be tasked with formulating a methodology for the "scientific allocation of medical oxygen" to states and Union Territories (UTs) during the pandemic.

Issuing the order, the bench said the task force would be at liberty to draw upon the human resources of the Union government for consultation and information. It would also be free to formulate its modalities and procedure for working.

The rationale for constituting a task force at the national level is to facilitate a public health response to the pandemic based on scientific and specialised knowledge, it said.
